Based in Ghana, James Ekow Rhule is the newly-elected President of the Africa Alliance of YMCAs, after serving on the Executive Committee as Vice President in the last term of office and previously as a member. After joining as a volunteer member in 1982, over the years, Ekow has held various leadership positions, ranging from National Youth President in Ghana, to serving on the Ghana National Executive Committee and various sub-committees, to being a Western Zone co-ordinator and Chairperson, to his positions at Africa Alliance and also serving on the World Alliance Executive Committee from 1991 - 1998. Ekow has successfully chaired many conferences, an important one being the Youth Summit Umoja in Togo in 2000 which gave rise to many YMCA leaders today. He recently managed the Africa Alliance meetings in Ghana in May (OGM, Partnership Summit and Youth Training), playing a key role in the organization, resource mobilization and facilitation of the events. He holds a Master of Arts (International Affairs) from the University of Ghana, a post-grad diploma in Communications from the same university and did his BA (Hons) in English and Religions at the University of Cape Coast. Ekow is the Head of Public Affairs at Cocoa Processing Co Ltd, where he has worked since 2001.
