What We Do
Youth justice

Many YMCAs in Africa engage in youth justice as youth are at high risk for offending or being drawn into gangsterism due to their socio-economic conditions and the lack of positive role models in their homes and communities. Youth justice prevention programmes target youth at risk and provide them with lifeskills, vocational training and entrepreneurship opportunities. Rehabilitation work with incarcerated youth offers lifeskills, literacy and training while also providing assistance with legal referrals and family counselling. Reintegration covers various aspects from half-way shelters, parole work, family reintegration and training and work opportunities.
