What We Do
What We Do

Through our programmes and projects, the Africa Alliance and our member movements give marginalised youth the opportunity for personal development and empowerment, and equip them with the skills to develop into leaders to make an impact on our future generations.

Our 'From Subject to Citizen' (4rm S2C) model focuses on building the civic competence of youth in Africa. We provide opportunities for youth to develop their voices and occupy decision-making spaces so they are able to influence those in authority. The ultimate outcome of this is that future leaders will be better prepared to design holist, appropriate and self-sustaining solutions for our continent.

Major African YMCA programme areas include:
• Civic education and engagement;
• Reproductive health and HIV/AIDS;
• Youth justice; and
• Youth employment and entrepreneurship.

Further, the Alliance plays a leading role in:
• Gender equity and equality; and
• Capacity development to ensure strengthening the African YMCA movement.
