The Career Manenoz will empower youth on skilling, positioning as well as providing exposure to accessing enterprise resources. The framework of the expo will also generate interest and awareness on the various enterprise markets and areas of business to generate interest on entrepreneurship career platforms. The YMCA is an organisation which purposes to see the transformation of youth from Subjects to Citizens. This vision therefore ensures that innovative, relevant and current knowledge is communicated and provided to give youth the basis for greater value-adding because our youth count. This is what the Career Expo and Beyond will do!
The Expo event will be an opportunity for young men and women to interact with industry and get real-time opportunity for guidance, mentorship, recruitment and job placements. Beyond the expo, the YMCA will offer youth entrepreneurial training and business start-up support, continuous career support and youth-friendly holistic development. The Subject to Citizen (S2C) approach is hinged on self-knowledge, unlocking potential and connecting to opportunity.
The main features of the Expo are Youth Empowerment Spaces. The spaces are comprised of Vibes Sessions, Hotbench sessions, Hangouts and an Alternative Rave. Exhibitions provide the market place spaces for private, public and civil society will showcase different products and services. Vibes sessions will be two-hourly dedicated spaces/forums addressing diverse topical youth related issues with approximately 50 participants. The Hotbench will address the opportunities for youth with special needs and Finance options for Young Entrepreneurs. Hangouts are an arts expression session providing information of creative career opportunities.
The First edition of the Career Manenoz envisages bringing together over 3000 young people over two days for a career and enterprise experience. The Expo is free and open to all young men and women of all religions in different categories. The Expo will close off with an Alternative Rave show.
The YMCAs work in Africa is based on the principle of developing young men and women for the holistic transformation of their communities, nations and the continent. The vision of the YMCA is “Empowering young people for the African Renaissance”. The YMCAs change model “From Subject to Citizen” (S2C) addresses youth empowerment by giving voice, and using appropriate spaces to influence policy makers to make positive changes for African youth.
