The theme this year is Faith in Fatherhood.
The rationale behind this year’s theme is that young men are striving to have the belief that they can be positive and involved fathers, in spite of the fact that most have none/absent/abusive/neglectful/disengaged fathers (or even role models) – they want to believe in themselves and in a masculinity that is positive and different and ‘real’.
Their female counterparts are open to accepting to work with them as partners. Fatherhood is a process, a life long committment that is realised and exercised in the hood, wherever a man is despite his social and economic background or location.
As we reflect on this day and celebrate, we invite everyone to participate in the online Social Media campaign (Facebook/Twitter) from 17 – 18 June 2017 in the following ways:
1. Upload a selfie on Facebook
2. Caption it “I have faith in fatherhood because…”
3. Tag someone and ask them “Do you have faith?”
We invite you to tag as many people as possible to create the continental vibe that gives insight as to why faith in fatherhood is so vital to us as Africans. This will be your platform to inspire, motivate and celebrate as a YMCA family together with your own families.
Looking forward to seeing your #FaithinFatherhood selfies!
Happy Father’s Day!
