The training is being held under the project Mobilizing Young People in Liberia and Sierra Leone to Rebuild Communities Devastated by the Ebola Outbreak. A leadership training under this project was held in 2016 in Kakata and Gbarnga. Participants are undergoing refresher training in the concept and different styles of leadership, personal development, active citizenship, communication for influence and behavioral state.
Activities under the project are intended to help rebuild the lives of young people in Kakata and Gbarnga, for increased security and cohesion, restoration of livelihoods to beneficiaries, maintenance of health & hygiene practices and increase resilience to future disasters.
The Liberia YMCA Ebola Recovery Project is a two- year project which commence on 1 February 2016 and will end on 31 January 2018. Several activities have and are being implemented under the project with 54 beneficiaries expected to graduate shortly from various vocational and skills training disciplines in Kakata and Gbarnga.
The project is being implemented by the Liberia YMCA with funding from Comic Relief through Y Care International.
